As per reports, Dr Debroy was suffering from intestinal issues.

The news of the economists death was issued by AIIMS Delhi hospital in a statement which also stated the cause of his passing. AIIMS Delhi reported that Bibek Debroy passed away today at 7 am due to intestinal obstruction. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his condolences on X and described Mr Debroy as a "towering scholar".

PM Modi took to X, formerly known as Twitter to express his condolences. He said, " Dr. Bibek Debroy Ji was a towering scholar, well-versed in diverse domains like economics, history, culture, politics, spirituality and more.
