Pixar movies have been family favorites for nearly 30 years now. The animation studio was first founded in 1986 but it really found great success with it’s first feature length film, Toy Story , a collaboration with Disney . Since then, the studio has produced 28 feature films, many shorts, TV shows and characters have even gone into video games! A little backstory – Pixar was first named in 1986 when the late Steve Jobs purchased Lucasfilm’s Computer Division from George Lucas and launched it as it’s own independent company.

Pixar then started to collaborate with Disney on CAPS, the Computer Animation Production System. The studio began releasing short films from 1986 until 1990. In 1991, Disney and Pixar agreed to make an animated movie together, and this began work on a project, which became Toy Story .
