A survey of 2,000 adults who celebrate Christmas revealed that one in five have already wrapped their presents - even before December has kicked off. A third see themselves as incredibly organised 'early birds', while 18% will leave most of their gift buying until the last few days. The research, commissioned by Toblerone Truffles for its 'Add a diamond' campaign, found that 34% feel the festive season 'sneaks up on them' every year.

Among those who confess to being late shoppers, 46% blame it on indecisiveness about what to buy, while 28% say they're too swamped with work. Consequently, a quarter have hastily bought a gift card instead of a more thoughtful present because they left their shopping too late or grabbed a gift from the local corner shop.

Those who finish their shopping well in advance believe it reduces stress (56%) and helps avoid missing out due to stock shortages (42%).
