Even Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is amazed at how Govinda managed to unite Marvel and DC before anyone else did. James Gunn, the mastermind behind the upcoming Superman movie, recently shared that the film has wrapped up its shooting, making it one of the most anticipated releases in the DC Universe for 2025. However, Gunn couldn’t have predicted how a 1988 Bollywood film starring Govinda brought Marvel and DC characters together in a quirky crossover.

The director took to his Instagram Stories to humourously react to a scene from the film Dariya Dil, where Govinda is dressed as Superman and Kimi Katkar is in a Spider-Man-inspired costume. On Tuesday, Gunn posted a clip from the song Tu Mera Superman, which features Govinda as Superman and Kimi Katkar as Spider-Man, both dancing and romancing in a park. In the clip, Govinda’s character punches a villain skyward, fights off other goons with his signature style and ultimately saves Kimi’s character.

The two then proceed to dance along with other people in the park. Gunn captioned the clip, “DC (handshake emoji) Marvel.” A post shared by The 503 factory (@hugobarah) Govindam, however, didn’t play a superhero in the film, directed by K.

Ravi Shankar. The Superman and Spider-Man costumes were only part of one song. In the track, both Govinda and Kimi Katkar donned superhero outfits and were seen flying around the city while romancing each other.
