Monday, September 23, 2024 In an effort to boost tourism in Assam’s picturesque Dima Hasao district, the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, in collaboration with the district’s Tourism Department, has announced a series of major events running from October to December this year. These events aim to highlight the region’s natural beauty, rich culture, and adventurous activities, positioning Dima Hasao as a must-visit destination for travelers. Over the span of 50 days, three main events are set to take center stage: the “Water Carnival” in Umrangso on October 26-27, the “Jatinga Festival” in Jatinga on November 8-9, and the “Falcon Festival” in Umrangso from December 13-15.

Both Umrangso and Jatinga, located 104km and 7km from Haflong, the district’s headquarters, offer stunning backdrops for these vibrant celebrations. The “Water Carnival” will feature a thrilling lineup of water sports, including river rafting, speedboat rides, jet skiing, and even a hot air balloon experience. Visitors can also enjoy musical and dance performances as part of the festivities.

The “Jatinga Festival” will spotlight cultural attractions and feature a special performance by a Bollywood artist. The much-anticipated “Falcon Festival,” a key annual celebration from December 13-15, will offer a variety of food stalls serving traditional and contemporary cuisine, continuing its tradition of lively and energetic festivities. The announcement of these events has sparked cons.
