Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Gopinath Jatti, overseeing the Visakhapatnam Range, has initiated a 100-day action plan to curb ganja cultivation and trafficking in Andhra Pradesh. A comprehensive review meeting was held on Saturday, involving five district Superintendents of Police, to discuss the campaign’s key strategies. These include the establishment of specialised units to apprehend offenders, the setting up of checkpoints at strategic locations, and the initiation of preventive detention measures against known criminals.

Since the campaign's launch, police have registered over 223 ganja-related cases, resulting in the seizure of approximately 9,517 kilograms of ganja valued at Rs 4.75 crores. A total of 545 individuals, including 249 from other states, have been arrested, and 155 vehicles used in trafficking have been confiscated.
