There were speculations that actor Shah Rukh Khan would be featured in 'Saare Jahan Se Achha' centered on the life of Rakesh Sharma, right after the premiere of Zero. Yet, he took everyone by surprise when he backed off from the project at the eleventh hour. When talking to Variety recently, he opened up about his 2018 movie, , which didn’t perform as well as expected. Following that disappointment, he confessed, he momentarily lost his passion for acting. Shah Rukh had revealed his intention to kickstart a new movie shoot in January of 2019, just on the tail of his release, Zero, in December 2018.

The rumored new project was , a biographical film on Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian to venture into space. Helmed by Mahesh Mathai and bankrolled by Siddharth Roy Kapur’s Roy Kapur Films, all seemed in place. Yet, recently Shah Rukh let slip the reasons for his abrupt exit from the said film.

The Jawan actor revealed, “I called the producer and I said to him that I don’t want to work for a year. He said, ‘It’s not possible. You don’t sit without working for even a minute.

So you don’t like the film, say no, don’t say you’re not working for a year’. And a year and a half later, he did call and he said, ‘I was really surprised you actually are not working’. So I just didn’t want to.
