Dick Van Dyke has proved you can do anything - no matter your age - and made everyone laugh while doing so. The 98-year-old Hollywood legend was one of the many A-listers in attendance at the Creative Arts Emmys on Saturday but his appearance was special as he tied a record set by Norman Lear , in 2020, as the oldest Emmy winner, both doing so at 98. After being honored with the award, Dick told People that he hoped to be remembered for "laughter," adding: "I hope for making people laugh for 75 years. I've been in the business 75 years. I can't believe that I'm still here and performing.

" The Chitty Chitty Bang Bang actor looked around the room and quipped : "I'm looking for work if anybody has." When it comes to his advice for youngsters trying to make it big in the industry, Dick shared: "You have to stick with it. You're gonna go through hard times and a lot of auditions .

.. but you have to stay with it.

"Be patient if you've got the confidence in yourself, and it's very important to believe that you can do it," he added. When the Mary Poppins star accepted his award, he told the audience: "Thank you! That reception, I cannot tell you what it means." He was also joined on the stage by his 52-year-old wife Arlen.
