DUTCAVICH A well-known Minersville funeral director, David J. Dutcavich was also active in public service. He served as Schuylkill County prothonotary, Schuylkill County coroner and deputy coroner, plus mayor of Minersville.
Following the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, he assisted the New York City Medical Examiner’s office in identifying victims who worked in the World Trade Center. A graduate of Penn State University and Catonsville Community College in Maryland, where he studied mortuary science, he joined the funeral home founded by his father, John J.
Dutcavich, in 1982. He was president of the Lebanon-Schuylkill Funeral Directors Association and vice chairman of the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association legislative committee. After six years on active duty, he served at Naval Reserve centers in Hazleton, Reading and Philadelphia, retiring as a chief hospital corpsman in 1992.
A life member of Good Will Hose Company, Minersville, he served as an emergency medical technician. The son of John and Gloria Dutcavich, Minersville, he died at age 70 on Aug. 18, 2024.
LOUIS “LUIGI” BELOVICH A popular musician, he entertained guests at La Dolce Casa-DiMaggio’s restaurant in Tamaqua for over 20 years. In a black beret and striped polo, Luigi performed in the tradition of Old World street musicians. Go.
