Friday, January 24, 2025 On April 1, Delta Air Lines (DL) will resume its daily nonstop service between New York (JFK) and Tel Aviv (TLV), marking a significant milestone in U.S.-Israel air travel.

The Atlanta-based airline will deploy its Airbus A330-900 for the route, offering nearly 2,000 weekly seats. This makes Delta the first U.S.

carrier to restart nonstop flights between New York and Tel Aviv since July 2024, when heightened tensions between Israel and Iran led to a suspension of operations by U.S. airlines due to security concerns.

Delta’s decision follows an extensive security review conducted in collaboration with government and private-sector partners. “The safety of our customers and crew is always our top priority,” said Delta in a statement. The airline has introduced additional safety measures to ensure smooth operations on its Tel Aviv route.

In addition to resuming its JFK-TLV route, Delta has expanded its footprint in Israel through a codeshare agreement with EL AL Israel Airlines (LY). This partnership enables Delta passengers to book nonstop flights to Tel Aviv from other U.S.

cities, including Newark (EWR), Boston (BOS), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), and Fort Lauderdale (FLL). Delta’s pilots and flight attendants will stay overnight in Tel Aviv, eliminating the need for crew changes in nearby countries such as Cyprus or Greece. This move ensures uninterrupted overnight service for passengers.
