Thursday, November 7, 2024 Progress on the Delhi-Katra Expressway has reached a significant milestone, with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) finalizing most of the land acquisitions necessary for the Ludhiana district section. This development brings the expressway project closer to achieving its goal of substantially reducing travel time between Ludhiana, Delhi, and Jammu. Upon completion, the expressway will enable commuters to travel from Ludhiana to Delhi in approximately three hours, providing substantial advantages for daily travelers, businesses, and local industries.

Spanning 399 kilometers, the Delhi-Katra Expressway includes a 38-kilometer segment passing through 24 villages within Ludhiana. NHAI representatives confirm that while the majority of the required land is secured, a few parcels in Chapar, Dhurkot, Ranguwal, and Ballowal are still under arbitration, as some farmers seek higher compensation. With land acquisition complete in other areas, contractors are set to initiate work on cleared sections of the expressway.

The construction of the expressway is progressing in sections, with Package 8, which spans from Malerkotla to Ludhiana, currently at 31% completion. Meanwhile, Package 9, stretching from Ludhiana to Phillaur, has achieved a 57.65% completion rate.
