Wednesday, January 22, 2025 Heritage Aviation is set to expand its reach across the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand under the RCS-Udan network. Rohit Mathur, the CEO of the Delhi-based aviation company and the first NSOP chopper operator under the Udan scheme, revealed plans to introduce daily helicopter services from Dehradun to Nainital and Bageshwar within the next two to three weeks. With the addition of these new routes, Heritage Aviation aims to connect nearly all districts in the Kumaon region.

The company is already providing regular helicopter services under the RCS-Udan initiative to destinations such as Champawat, Pithoragarh, Almora, and Munsiyari, operating out of Haldwani. Despite the challenges posed by the rugged terrain and unpredictable weather in the region, Rohit Mathur emphasized that Heritage Aviation prioritizes seamless operations under the Udan framework while ensuring the utmost safety and security of passengers. Acknowledging the remoteness of many Himalayan destinations, Mathur shared that the team goes above and beyond to ensure their services benefit both local residents, especially during emergencies, and tourists seeking a comfortable way to explore these distant locations.

While the RCS-Udan scheme provides cross-subsidization and tariffs are regulated by the Government of India, Mathur highlighted that the company operates at rates even lower than the government-fixed prices, making their services accessible to both the local community and visit.
