WATERBURY – We are sad to announce that on Aug. 19, 2024, at the age of 50, Deana Michelle (Jurewicz) Hernandez, of Waterbury, passed away. She was the loving wife of Juan Hernandez.

Deana was born in Waterbury on Jan. 11, 1974, daughter of Barbara (Stafford) Jurewicz of Oxford, and the late George A. Jurewicz.

She graduated from Holy Cross High School and studied at Naugatuck Valley Community College. She had a beautiful voice and a love of all music, especially the ’80s. Deana also enjoyed baking, arts and crafts, dancing, “girls just wanna have fun!” She worked as a karaoke singer and shared her amazing vocal talents with anyone and everyone all the time anywhere.

Deana had a razor-sharp ear for entertainment dialogue. Her wit and timing for reciting dialogue from movies and TV shows filled the room with laughter and joy. Deana loved her family very much and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her husband and mother, Deana is survived by her children, Robert Madeux (Danielle Marie), Todd Madeux (Cassie), Danielle Madeux (Matthew), and Juan Hernandez Jr.; and her two brothers, Michael Jurewicz (Hannah) and David Jurewicz (Debra Lee). Deana is also survived by many extended family members, too many to name.

At Deana’s request, a celebration of life will be on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, from 5 p.m.

to 8 p.m. at the AOH Club, 91 Golden Hill St.
