— In the state fair business, vendors can always count on suffering through at least one day where crummy weather dampens everything. As these business owners unlocked their stands Thursday morning, an unencumbered sun rose, and they agreed that they had lucked out having that one dud of a day land on this year’s opening. “We were able to ease into this year’s Fair yesterday, and now it’s going to just keep getting better,” Aaron Horan said during breakfast service at his stand on Restaurant Row.

“It’s beautiful today. Just look at it. And summer comes back tomorrow.

I’m happy.” The Fair’s second day did lure 53,707 patrons through the gate, a 40% increase over Wednesday’s lidlifter. And today’s another day with an even better outlook.

I’m at the Fair every day and night, and hey, a guy’s gotta eat (and drink). I write about food and drinks for syracuse.com and The Post-Standard , so I might as well as pass suggestions onto you while I’m working here.

That said, I’m no expert. I rely on readers to tell me what’s good. If you find something that makes your tummy happy, text me at 315-382-1984 and I’ll give it a shot.

I might join you for a meal or drink a.
