Nicola Pollina and his distraught wife shared their heartbroken reaction to the death of their only son Davide, 19, who died on his way home from visiting friends early on Sunday morning. Emergency services were called to the intersection of Bell Street and Victoria Street in Preston in Melbourne 's north following reports a BMW had struck Davide's motorcycle.

Paramedics performed CPR but he died at the scene. Police believed that two occupants in the BMW allegedly fled from the scene. Davide's tearful parents mourned the loss of their 'beautiful, special boy' as they embraced each other in tears.
