King Charles' third New Years Honours list has been revealed, with more than 1,200 people recognised across the country. Special honours are given to people who make outstanding contributions to their community and the country. The list includes politicians, musicians, actors, elite sports stars, and ordinary people who have made a difference in their community.

But sadly, football legend David Beckham isn't one of them. The 49-year-old earned 115 caps for his country, 59 of those as captain, and was awarded an OBE during his playing career in 2003. However, he has never been bestowed with the country's highest honour, much to many fans' bemusement.

The global star, a treble winner with Manchester United in 1999, has again been passed over, with his name a notable absentee from the list of those to be bestowed with honours by the King. The former Real Madrid and AC Milan player has devoted a lot of time to charity, serving as a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF and supporting a number of other charitable organisations. And in 2022, David, who is married to former Spice Girl-turned-fashion designer Victoria Beckham, won the hearts of the nation when he queued for several hours to pay his respects to the late Queen.
