The likes of St Ives in Cornwall has a reputation as one of the UK's most successful tourist destinations, with millionaires splashing the cash on luxury apartments in the stunning area. But one explorer discovered the region has a darker side, too. Cornwall is listed as the second poorest region in the whole of northern Europe, and you don't have to venture far from the booming hotspot of , loved by millionaires and tourists alike, to find examples of poverty.

YouTuber travelled to the area and nearby to highlight the contrast between the wealthy second-homers in their £2million seafront apartments, and the homeless locals sleeping in doorways just a few streets away. The rising price of property in the area, together with the irresistible lure of AirBnB rents, means that there are fewer and fewer affordable family homes available to rent. "If you come here in winter there's there's barely anyone living here," Wendall said.

"All these beautiful little coastal cottages will have no lights on they're all second homes." A few miles up the road from St Ives, the former mining town of Redruth shows how communities are being hollowed-out by the relentless expansion of second homes.
