com Dance Because presents a series of Dance Salons taking place once monthly on Friday evening for the enjoyment of all who love to dance. The Dance Salons offer a fun dance experience – a combination of workshop and social, a place to play and learn, a chance to stretch and move and express yourself. Building on the success of Dance Because Festival in June 2024, this new monthly series continues the intention to celebrate dance, human-ness and connection through the shared dance experience.

Each Salon will take place on Friday evening from 7-10 PM at the Nevada City Oddfellows Hall on Spring Street. The first event takes place Friday, October 4. Dancer Elizabeth Castaneda leads a Voguing workshop followed by DJ dance party.

Originating from the vibrant ballroom culture of New York City, voguing is a dynamic dance style that blends elements of fashion, drama, and self-expression. Inspired by the poses struck by models in fashion magazines, voguing is all about confidence, attitude, and owning the spotlight. In this workshop, you'll learn the fundamental movements, poses, and techniques that define voguing.
