Premiership has gone bonkers. This was a Christmas holiday riot, of the best kind. It was a wonderful match, in which both teams threw every scrap of their attacking talents at the other, which Leicester Tigers levelled in dramatic fashion when the veteran grandee Dan Cole forced his way over the line with millimetres to spare to score, and Handré Pollard kicked a conversion from wide out, which cannoned over off the post.

It was sensational rugby, and of the utmost credit to two teams whose seasons have not gone entirely to plan. As an occasion it was wonderful. The inclination after Christmas for many households is to get out into the fresh air, but it was still a monumental achievement that the stadium was.
