The Dallas Cowboys' fifth loss of the 2024 NFL season was made even worse with multiple injuries to quarterback Dak Prescott. Early in the fourth quarter, Prescott was ruled out due to a hamstring injury. Based on the broadcast, the issue came up during a pass motion when he was working from a clean pocket.
There was no contact involved with the play. He was also hurt from the right hand. Moments after the final whistle of Sunday's 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, Prescott discussed his injury with reporters and provided a strong statement about both his injury and his status moving forward.
“I felt something pull. I felt something I’ve never felt, " Prescott told reporters. “It would take a lot for me not to be out there.
" On the one hand, it's concerning to hear Prescott had never felt that before. On the other, it seems like he believes there's a strong chance of him playing next Sunday. Jerry Jones told reporters postgame he was "concerned" about the injury.
Hamstring issues are always troublesome due to how they can linger for a good while if not treated properly. But at 3-5, Prescott probably understands how desperate the situation is in Dallas. With the Philadelphia Eagles up next, there's no luxury of sitting one game out.
If he can go, the quarterback will likely do everything he can to go, even if that means playing in limited fashion. If Prescott can't go, it'll likely be Cooper Rush in action, who completed 13-of-25 pass attempts on Sunday. Trey Lance fail.
