The high energy Hindi art-rock band, Diara, has been creating music for a decade, and till date have done 38 songs. Recently, they did a live show at Bastar. Interestingly, that was first ever rock show held in Chhattisgarh ’s Bastar district.
This eventually led to an album of five songs. Talking about how Jaadoo Bastar was initially conceived, vocalist Piyush Kapoor says, “In 2022 Daira was touring in Chhattisgarh and that is when we got a call from Bastar administration to perform in Bastar and to conduct a musical workshop for the local musicians.” The energy and excitement the band found all around them in Bastar inspired them.
He adds, “We then explored the local tribal music in Bastar and we were so surprised. It was so beautiful, rich and melodic. That is when we had this spark that we should do something.
The workshop that the government had organised was a blessing in disguise because we did not know that our jamming session and workshops would result in such great results. It is during this that we realised that their music and Daira's sound complimented each other really well. And that was the first seed that came to our mind on collaborating with them.
Later we discussed this with the administration in Bastar and eventually after a month our entire band came to Bastar and we created Jaadoo Bastar.
