April 12, 1943 - August 5, 2024 In Loving Memory ~ It is with sadness that the family of Allan Nelson announces his passing on August 5th, 2024, at the age of 81. He will be missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Carol; sons, David (Monica) and Richard (Liz); grandchildren Eric and Maia; sister-in-law Linda; niece Alli (Jason); grandnephew Hudson; as well as many other extended family members and friends. Allan was pre-deceased by his parents Alfred and Claudia, and his sister Arlene.

Born in Victoria, BC, Allan grew up in beautiful Lake Cowichan BC. After graduation, he set out to explore the wonders of the world, including a stop in Australia for two years. Upon his return, he earned his welding ticket at a vocational school in Nanaimo.

Allan spent the mid-sixties welding on the oil rigs in Victoria. From the late sixties to the mid-eighties Al drove and owned logging trucks. The last 20 years of his driving career were spent driving ore trucks for the mine at Myra Falls near Campbell River.

In his spare time, when he wasn't busy fixing something for someone, Allan enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting firewood, and building and maintaining his cabin on Village Bay Lake. Leisure activities included biking, canoeing, and cross-country skiing. Allan enjoyed competition and particularly loved the Snow to Surf Race from Mount Washington to Comox.

As he could often be found busily working on projects, or helping his family and friends with their projects, his get 'er done attitude e.
