was rebuilt to be a 50 mph curve,” Twin Falls Highway District Director Kenny Spencer said. “The highway district improved and widened the corner at 3000 East and 2800 North to better serve the traveling public.” There were no budget cuts.

“We held two public meetings on this matter,” Spencer said. “It was all part of the realignment for the new curve that was done last year.” The cutoff access road, however, shaved off nearly a mile.

“The time difference between the cutoff road and going to the foothills road is only a few minutes difference,” Spencer said. “The old curve was posted with the advisory speed of 35 mph. It is now a 50 mph curve.

” The cutoff road was closed at the beginning of the curve construction in September 2023 and the curve was completed in October 2023, he said. “The Twin Falls Highway District is in the process of decommissioning the old cutoff road, which means we are preparing to abandon that section of roadway.” The property is owned by the Bureau of Land Management and the district has a right of way.

The road existed before the highway district was established in 1908. A traffic study was not available for the cutoff road. Crash data is available at the Local Highwa.
