Pune: A 37-year-old homemaker was injured after an unidentified man kicked the scooter she was on to throw her off balance right outside her society's gate, before snatching her gold chain worth Rs75,000 and fleeing from the spot. The incident occurred in front of the victim's residential complex in Wagholi on Wednesday night. The woman, who tried to resist the thief, also suffered bruises on her neck.

She later lodged a complaint with the Lonikand police on Thursday. A case has been registered against the unknown accused under section 309-4 ( robbery ) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). When contacted, the woman told TOI that the robbery occurred around 8pm on Wednesday, when she and her two-and-a-half-year-old son were returning from the vegetable market on her scooter.

"My son was standing on the footrest in front of me. When we reached the main gate of our society, I spotted a man walking towards my scooter. There is a pothole in front of our society gate.

He tried to divert my attention by making a sudden movement, pretending to avoid the pothole, and I stopped my vehicle. He immediately came closer and kicked my vehicle and my leg. I almost lost my balance, and the scooter tilted.

The scooter's entire load was on my leg," she narrated. The woman said that while she tried to balance the two-wheeler and prevent her son from falling off, the man snatched her gold chain. "I immediately held the man by his shirt and started resisting him.
