Crime has reduced eight percent overall over the last twelve months, accounting for more than 25,000 fewer crimes in Greater Manchester compared to last year. Neighbourhood crime is down 17 per cent overall and across every category including a reduction in theft from person (26%), vehicle offences (19%), robberies (12%), and burglaries (10%). The police say their proactive mule-agency approach to knife crime has helped decrease hospital admissions by a quarter.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "In 2021, we made a commitment to ensuring we attended every household burglary. Since then, burglary arrests have increased by 15.5 per cent and every month there are hundreds fewer victims of this invasive crime across GM compared to three years ago.

"This has seen 1,500 more domestic abuse victims receive justice in the last year compared to three years ago and 3,500 more shoplifting offences be solved compared to the year up to March 2021.
