Star signing Stephen Crichton led the Bulldogs to a drought-breaking finals appearance, while two playmaker recruits couldn’t save the Tigers from a third straight spoon. Meanwhile, Luke Brooks added another dimension to the Sea Eagles as they broke their finals drought, while Paul Alamoti proved a masterstroke signing for the premiers the Panthers. However, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck struggled at centre in a disappointing Warriors side and Jack Wighton couldn’t save the Rabbitohs from a total implosion.

Without playing a minute for his new club, the 23-year-old was named captain in a bold call by coach Cameron Ciraldo. While his leadership traits shone through on his way to picking up the Dally M captain of the year gong, Crichton helped bring a winning culture to the Bulldogs, who went from 15th to 6th and a finals finish in the space of one year.
Crichton finished with 2,174 metre.
