Ahmedabad: A 29-year-old land broker from the Vastrapur area of the city was allegedly kidnapped by a moneylender on Thursday morning over a monetary dispute. Ravi Mali , a resident of Chanduji chawl in Vastrapur, said in his FIR with Vastrapur police that he had taken a Rs 35,000 loan from one Rahul Desai from Mehsana on 10% monthly interest in Feb. Mali said he paid Rs 1.

30 lakh to Desai, but despite that, the latter kept asking for Rs 40,000 more from him. On Thursday morning, Desai called up Mali and asked him to meet him at Vastrapur Gaam bus stand. Mali said in the FIR that Desai arrived in a car, asked Mali to get in, and made Mali speak to his father.

Desai also allegedly snatched Mali’s cellphone worth Rs 10,000. Mali’s family members approached police after which cops began hunting for Desai. A team of the city crime branch on Friday caught Desai near a crematorium behind VS Hospital in Ellisbridge.
