Facing the two-time defending state champions, Country Day rallied from being down to sets to best the Broncos, 17-25, 20-25, 25-18, 27-25, 15-6 and punch their first-ever ticket to Battle Creek.

“I’m thrilled, just thrilled,” Country Day coach Kim Lockhart said of the semifinal appearance. “These girls have worked so hard all year. I am really excited for the team, the parents and the school.

” It was shaping up to be another disappointment for the Yellowjackets when the Broncos took the opening two sets behind their lead hitter, Aubree Deshetsky. The junior had 10 kills in the first set, then five kills with two blocks in the second to give North.
