Earlier this year sparks appeared to fly between Alya and her former boss Adam ( Sam Robertson ), but before things could go any further she accepted a job offer to work in Ireland. Alya returns to Weatherfield in next week's episodes , however, and Adam wastes little time in inviting her out for dinner. "I don't think there's been that much contact [between them] while Alya's been in Ireland," said Khan, who is back on the soap after six months of maternity leave.

"So, I think when they lock eyes back on each other, the spark that was there before Alya left has been completely reignited. "But I think Alya is trying to play it cool and be a bit coy, but she also knows what she wants, and that's him, so she's just gonna go for it!" The pair had worked together at Adam's legal firm for almost two years with little signs of chemistry, but Khan believes that Alya has recently started to view him in a new light. "I think Alya has seen a different side to Adam that she didn't see when he was her boss, a much more caring and sensitive side," she explained.

"Although she knows he can be a bit cocky and arrogant, I think she likes being kept on her toes, and it's exciting for her. He's got big aspirations, and I think she finds that a turn on. So, I think very keen on him!" Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7am on ITVX and at 8pm on ITV1.
