Coronation Street viewers are convinced there's more to returning character Jesse and that Gail Platt may need to watch out. The ITV soap aired the return of the character after years away, with actor John Thomson reprising the role. It was confirmed recently that the character was coming back as part of Gail's exit storyline, with actress Helen Worth leaving the role after 50 years.

He surprised Gail on Wednesday with his arrival, and soon we learned more about how they knew each other. But amid spoilers teasing he is hiding something, fans were not sure what to make of Jesse - questioning if he's actually targeting Gail. As the episode went on it was teased drama could be ahead, as Gail's long-time frenemy Eileen Grimshaw seemed to still be interested in her ex Jesse.

Some viewers thought he and Gail looked happy together, and that this would be how Gail leaves. Some fans couldn't help speculate that there was more to his return though, and it wasn't going to end well for Gail. Viewers couldn't help shift the feeling that it was all a bit weird Jesse arriving now, claiming he wanted to be there for Gail amid her granddaughter Bethany Platt's hospital dash.

Of course they need to write Gail out and originally it was meant to be her ex Martin Platt returning, with it changed to Jesse . But rushed or not, some fans think there is a bigger twist at play. Taking to social media, fans speculated Jesse was being "fake" and it wasn't genuine.
