Coronation Street is said to be in crisis after news that Sean Wilson has been axed before his big return to the cobbled streets. It comes as reports from The Sun share that Wilson, who was set to revive his role as Martin Platt was called for a meeting at the ITV offices and following the meeting never returned to the set of Corrie. Wilson was previously announced to return as part of Gail Platt’s exit storyline and currently, bosses at the soap have declined to share why the actor will not be back.

A source told The Sun: “It has come as a complete and utter shock to everyone - and his ¬sudden exit has rocked everyone involved with Corrie .
“Sean was loving his time on the show, and he was very popular on set. "He had filmed scenes with loads of the cast, but then suddenly he was summoned to head office, and later it filtered out he wouldn’t be returning or his scenes airin.
