Coronation Street fans didn't seem too impressed by a 'change' to Carla Connor as she faced her latest difficulty on the street. The much-loved character faced getting into trouble recently when she backed nephew Bobby Crawford's lie to the police. She risked her friendship with Roy Cropper after deciding against turning Bobby in for claiming he saw a man - that wasn't the beloved cafe owner - leaving Lauren Bolton's flat around the time she went missing.

With Roy in prison at the time, Carla was willing to do what it took to get her innocent friend out of prison but it backfired when he found out and refused to see or speak to her. DS Lisa Swain eventually got what had happened out of Roy and dragged Bobby to the station for questioning. Swain then later encouraged the newly freed street stalwart to make amends with Carla before the Underworld boss offered Swain’s daughter some work experience. This has since led to Betsy Swain arriving at the factory - and she's already causing Carla some bother. During Monday night's (July 15) episode of Corrie, newcomer Betsy was pestering Carla about a summer job after Fiz Stape pointed out she was quite good.
