Cornwall's newest entry in The Good Food Guide offers 'confident' cooking in 'enchanting surroundings', according to the esteemed venue guide. in Mawgan offers modern British cooking which the Good Food Guide folks have called "confidently simple, seasonally attuned cooking in enchanting surroundings". The surroundings are the best of Cornwall, as the restaurant is located a five-minute drive through the 1,000-acre Trelowarren Estate on the Lizard Peninsula.

The bucolic surroundings give the feeling of isolation, the guide notes. In the environs of Flora, a handful of holiday cottages and a small gallery, plus Flora’s café, bakery, and restaurant, bring a quiet buzz to the old stable yard at the centre of things. The Good Food Guide said: "Tim and Louise Rødkjaer Spedding took up residence here in early 2023 and make excellent use of local supplies as well as produce from their walled garden.

What they offer is some of the most confidently simple cooking in the region, all deeply connected to the seasons in a way that most city chefs can only dream of." Louise's Copenhagen roots show through with the superb Danish pastries at breakfast while the venue serves bread from its wood-fired oven throughout the day and the menu. On a visit, seated in the courtyard next to "rambling roses and vines", the Good Food Guide review said it was "perfect for enjoying a fragrant but barely dressed salad of mozzarella, fresh peas, nectarine and basil, paired with a generous portion of Tim.
