Thiruvananthapuram : Close on the heels of the disappearance of Thasmith Thamsum last week that left all panicked and anxious, another girl, aged 12, went missing from the Kazhakkoottam police station limits in the early hours of Sunday. Luckily, the girl was traced back from Nedumangad hours after she went missing. The Chempazhanthy-based girl left home at 1am on Sunday after her mother scolded her.
The girl studying in Class VIII left home carrying a bag that had her dresses and other necessary items. When her parents woke up during the night, they found her missing, and a complaint was registered with Kazhakkoottam police station without delay. Police began a probe after registering a case under section 57 of the Kerala Police Act.
Kazhakkoottam police soon alerted all police stations and railway police and intensified the search in every nook and corner of the city. A photo of the child was also shared in all police groups. Nedumangad police was able to trace her by noon from the bus stand.
She told police that she was upset after her mother scolded her for using mobile phone and she decided to leave home. She stayed in a thicket till 5am near the house and later boarded a bus to Nedumangad. She was sitting at the bus stand thinking of a place to head to when she was noticed by police.
