IPOH: Four university students believed to be part of a drug syndicate have been arrested in a house in Perak Tengah. Acting Perak police chief Deputy Comm Zulkafli Sariaat said the four - two men and two women - were nabbed on Thursday (Nov 14) at about 1.40pm at a double-storey house in Seri Iskandar.

He said the four, all locals, are aged between 20 and 22 years old. He said during the raid, police found a translucent plastic package containing compressed chunks believed to be ganja weighing 865g, an orange-coloured compressed chunk wrapped with a translucent plastic also believed to be ganja weighing 1,038g, and two packets of ganja weighing 18g. “All the drugs seized are for personal consumption, as well as for distribution.

“Also seized during the raid were cash amounting to RM400, a luxury car, and a gold chain,” he said in a statement Friday (Nov 15). DCP Zulkafli added that the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and Section 15(1)(a) of the Act. One of the suspects is remanded until Nov 20, while three others are remanded until Nov 19.

He said the success is due to cooperation between the community, and enforcement agencies “We advise the people to continue helping us in providing information in connection to drug activities, so that the authorities are able to curb such menace. “We also urge higher institution of education students not to get involved in any activities related to drugs,” he said..
