Pune: A team of the National Disaster Response Force ( NDRF ) on Wednesday morning traced the body of a 20-year-old police constable at Golegaon village in Khed taluka , three days after she ended her life by jumping into the Indrayani river in Alandi. “Constable Anushka Kedar’s body was found floating in the river about 8km from Alandi. The body had started decomposing.

Her identity was ascertained with the police PT uniform she was wearing,” senior inspector Hari Narke of the Alandi police said. Kedar, attached to the Pune Rural police, had jumped into the river from a bridge in Alandi on Sunday. She had called a friend before that and told him that she was ending her life and no one was responsible for her decision.

“When the water level in the river receded on Wednesday, the body was found floating at Golegaon in Khed taluka,” fire officer Prasad Borate of the Alandi Municipal Council fire brigade told TOI. “After the body was found, we have registered a case of accidental death. After the investigations, we will decide the further course of action,” Narke said.
