MMA star Conor McGregor’s social media has been awash with cryptic clues surrounding the use of his alcohol at his sister’s wedding at the luxurious Cashel Palace Hotel over the weekend. The 36-year-old Dubliner’s sister Erin tied the knot with her fiancé Terry Kavanagh in an exclusive no expense spared reception at the five-star Tipperary hotel which reportedly cost €1.5m.

The Notorious is the owner of Forged Irish stout, named after his own pub in Dublin, the Black Forge Inn, and Proper Number Twelve whiskey.

Both brands are prominent on the star’s accounts and last weekend in Tipperary was no different. Having launched his stout exclusively on draught at his Dublin pub in 2021, he ramped up scale to break the UK and Ireland retail markets in a bid to take on Kingpins Guinness and rivals like Beamish and Murphys. In a competitive Irish market, McGregor has been on an aggressive “Takeover” marketing campaign for months promoting the stout and whiskey to his 47 million Instagram followers and at in-person events.
