Pune: The PMC has dug up a road stretch at Parihar Chowk in Aundh to facilitate water pipeline work which led to deterioration of overall condition of the road, said commuters. Residents and commuters said the road must be restored at the earliest as the existing repairs were done haphazardly and have been disrupting vehicular movement. The Parihar Chowk is among the busiest junctions in Aundh.

The repair works in the area has irked everyone, said commuters. Alok Bora, a regular traveller in the area, said, "Recently the road was dug for pipeline-related work. The barricades installed at the site were removed on Saturday, but the reinstatement was not done properly.

The road has become bumpy, and the riders are facing hardships." Sudhir Nande said, "a drive was conducted recently by the administration and it demolished some structures near the chowk. The debris was still lying on the footpath.

" The administration should avoid such poor-quality works, Nande said. The commuters said the civic administration should finish the reinstatement of the road and remove the debris on priority to reduce chaos ahead of the weekend and Christmas holiday. Vehicular movement, according to the commuters, in Aundh has already increased as many prefer travelling via Aundh to avoid getting stuck in traffic chaos at Baner Road due to ongoing metro work.

Additionally, Vilas Gaikwad, a local resident, said illegal parking and halting of cars on the road stretches near Parihar Chowk has become a maj.
