Trail cleanups are held regularly at the Cardiff Farmers Market, 3333 Manchester Ave., hosted by the market in collaboration with We Clean Trails. The community can join a cleanup event and help remove litter from roadways surrounding the San Elijo Lagoon.

12-13. Participants can kayak on the lagoon that is normally closed to boating, while helping to preserve the lagoon habitat by removing trash. There will be four launches each day, starting at 8 a.
m. and ending at 2:30 p.m.
Children age 6 and older can attend with an adult. The cost is $150 per two-person kayak; proceeds go to lagoon restoration and other projects. Visit batiquitoslagoon.
com . The Carlsbad Rotary Clubs’ Oktoberfest Fall Festival is from noon to 8 p.m.
Oct. 5 at the Carlsbad Strawberry Fields, 1050 Cannon Road. Highlights include German food and music and a Bavarian Biergarten with various beers and wines along with stein-holding and yodeling contests.
Attractions include a petting zoo, a corn maze, a kids zone, bounce houses and tractor rides at the marigold field. There will be a German costume contest, a wiener toss challenge and other German games. The fundraiser is hosted by the Carlsbad Rotary Club and Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary Club for Carlsbad charities.
There is a $10 entry fee to enter the Carlsbad Strawberry Fields. Admission is free for children 5 and younger. Pa.
