The BFA-St. Albans Comets hosted St. Johnsbury on Saturday, Sept.

21, raising their record to 6-1 at the season's midpoint. The Comets came out cruising in the first, as Ava Harrison went on a 7-point run from the service line to give the Comets a quick first set lead. Emma Harrison had six assists in the first set.

The Comets had seven kills in the set, two each from Kristie LaBelle, Anna Smith, and Emma Harrison. The Comets won 25-10 and set the tone for the match. The Comets played all the reserves in the second set and continued the winning ways.

The Comets received good defense from Emma Elwood, Lieanne Phillips, and Annie Blow. Ella and Maggie Dunigan were effective at the net, keeping St. Johnsbury on the defensive most of the set.

Smith had a big 6-point run to get the Comets the big lead. The Comets pulled out a 25-17 second set victory. In the third set it was Annie Blow’s turn to spark the Comets.

She went on a 7-0 service run to give the Comets an 11-6 lead. Abby Demar had three beautiful assists from the setter’s position, and the Comets won the final set 25-15. It was a fun afternoon as the Comets received contributions from their entire roster.

The Comets continue to work hard in practice and are continuing to improve throughout the season. Next is the PINK game on Thursday, Sept. 26.

The Comets will raise money for the Jim Bashaw Cancer and Catastrophic Illness fund. The JVA team plays at 4:30 p.m.
