Coldplay's Chris Martin & Co are slated to rock Mumbai in January 2025, and fans are proving why they’re truly fanatics. Tickets for the first two shows went live and sold out almost instantly, forcing organisers, BookMyShow, to add a third day to the band's India tour. That, too, sold out within minutes.
The resale market is now booming, with tickets reportedly going for up to 30 times their original price. But it’s not just the ticket prices that are reaching astronomical heights—hotel rooms and flight tickets for the concert dates are also through the roof. Compared to Coldplay's last Mumbai concert in 2016, the frenzy this time is making the previous one look tame by comparison.
A Look Back at Coldplay’s 2016 Concert vs. 2025 In 2016, Coldplay tickets ranged between ₹10,000 and ₹25,000. Fast forward to 2025, and while this year's tickets were initially available from ₹2,500 to ₹35,000, all of them were snapped up immediately.
Now, resale prices for premium seats are going up to ₹3 lakh, a 750% increase over the original prices. But the ticket surge is only part of the story. During Coldplay’s 2016 concert, hotel prices around the event surged by 300-400%.
This time, however, the hikes are even more extreme, with some hotels increasing rates by up to 2,000%. Luxury properties near DY Patil Stadium are charging as much as ₹4,50,000 per night—a far cry from their regular prices. If you’re flying into Mumbai for the concert, be prepared for another p.
