The 30-year-old's 4x100m freestyle relay win on the first night in the pool took McKeon to six golds, one ahead of legend Ian Thorpe. Simpson, 27, who almost qualified for the Games himself, took to Instagram on Tuesday to cheer on Emma's success.

Cody shared a picture of himself next to his sweetheart as she held up her gold medal beside a display case with her other medals from the 2024 games. Both Cody and Emma were all smiles in the photo, with Cody wearing a white T-shirt and cream chinos and his girlfriend wearing the Aussie gold and green. In the caption, he shared his pride at her accomplishments, claiming it was a 'privilege' to watch her success.

'Golden girl. Emma, to have had a seat to watch you compete and complete your Olympic career with such grace and power was a privilege,' Cody wrote. 'You inspire me immensely and it's an honour to be your man! I'm punching and I know it so I'm glad you haven't figured that out yet!' he added, suggesting Emma was out of his league.
