Thiruvananthapuram: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will hoist the national flag and will receive the salute at the Independence Day parade which will be organized at the Central Stadium at 9am. The chief minister will receive salutes from various armed forces, non-armed forces, mounted police, NCC, scouts, guides, student police, and cadets. Following this, the chief minister will deliver the Independence Day message.

The police medals from the President of India for distinguished services and life-saving medals will be awarded to the recipients by the chief minister. As in previous years, the Indian Air Force will conduct a flower shower from a helicopter at the stadium. After the parade, there will be patriotic songs performed by students from various schools in Thiruvananthapuram.
