A Cleethorpes couple who have been inseparable since first meeting at a dance in 1950 celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary surrounded by their loved ones at the weekend. Ken and Audrey Barnard, both 91, were left delighted to receive their second card from King Charles III on Thursday, August 8, to mark 71 years since they were married. On Saturday, they celebrated the incredible milestone with a party alongside their family, including their two children Carl and Stephanie, their four granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.

We were both invited to a dance in Westward Ho, and I never danced with anybody all night long. I could see Audrey with about five other girls and she stood out among all these lasses. I thought, 'She's the one for me'.

"I went up to her and asked if I could take her home, and she said, 'No you can't'. But we made arrangements to go to the Wellington Dance Hall in Wellington Street the following Wednesday, and from then on we never went out without each other."
