More than a dozen businesses want a significant rethink on a proposed Cleethorpes regeneration scheme due to fears over the impact it could have. The loss of Market Place's car park and traffic gridlock concerns with delivery vehicles and a proposed one-way system are at the core of the businesses' worries. One even predicted their business would close.

Cleethorpes was awarded £18.4m government Levelling Up Fund cash for three projects - a new Sea Road building, a rejuvenated Pier Gardens, and to revitalise Market Place. Businesses in and near Market Place believe its proposed pedestrianised zone and associated changes will hinder them and their customers.

The council's leader said the authority is having ongoing discussions with businesses, and is committed to ensuring access during construction.
