That’s what I like to call a “snap- back friendship”. It’s one of the most refreshing and drama-free experiences out there.

Life can get pretty hectic. We all get swamped with work, face personal challenges and just go through the ups and downs of being alive. As a result, we sometimes lose touch with friends we’ve known for ages.

But just because you haven’t been in constant contact doesn’t mean you’ve drifted apart or had a falling out. It’s just life getting in the way. I recently reached out to a friend I hadn’t spoken to since early this year.

I had been putting off calling him, dreading the conversation. I kept thinking: “Why doesn’t he reach out first? Why should I be the one making the effort?” It’s easy to fall into that trap, especially when you’re busy or feeling a bit out of touch. So, I finally picked up the phone. To my surprise, my friend didn’t bring up the fact that I’d been MIA or that I missed his last text. Instead, he welcomed me back with open arms and we talked like we had never been apart.
