The annual ceremony celebrates the best restaurants, chefs, and culinary services across the country, giving diners the chance to nominate and vote for their favourites. Categories vary from best new restaurant and best chef to best luxury restaurant and restaurant of the Year.

The British Restaurant Awards also celebrate the nation's best bars with The Royal Institution Bar in the running for the title. Based on Colquitt Street, the venue is known to locals for its extraordinary history, impressive interiors and cosy, friendly atmosphere. Owen Griffin, the venue's general manager, who has worked there since its recent revival, told the ECHO the team are thrilled with the nomination.

To make the most of the mention, staff members intend to be present at the award ceremony in hopes of bagging the prestigious title. The Royal Institution originally opened as an organisation promoting literature, science and the arts back in 1814, before being granted its royal charter in 1821. The St Hospitality team obtained the venue in 2022 and relaunched it in August of the same year as the bar we know today.
