Pune: Residents of Baner, Balewadi, Pashan and Aundh have demanded continuous fogging and cleanliness-related activities to reduce mosquito menace in their areas. They raised concerns over rising cases of fever, dengue, and chikungunya at the mohalla committee meeting held on Thursday at PMC’s Aundh ward office in the presence of ward officials. They stressed on elaborate steps to control the spread of mosquito-borne diseases.
They said that the administration should make some basic efforts to check mosquito menace like continuous fogging, cleaning of roads, and lifting of waste from open areas. The Aundh-Baner ward office covers areas like Aundh, Pashan, Baner, and Balewadi. The residents also said that considering the upcoming Ganeshotsav, the administration should draw up a comprehensive plan to clean river ghats, increase cleanliness drives at public areas, and also keep a watch on illegal stalls selling food items.
Ajit Sonawane, a resident of Pashan, said that the condition of roads in most areas has remained poor. “Arterial roads and lanes are waiting for repairs. Many smaller roads are also witnessing waterlogging after spells of rain.
” PMC officials said that fogging drives were underway in the residential areas. “We also urge citizens to conduct cleanliness drives in their societies,” an official said. Kothrud MLA Chandrakant Patil held a meeting with municipal commissioner Rajendra Bhosale and instructed expediting of pending works of road links.
