Prayagraj: Around 400 ace swimmers from 13 zones showcased their sporting skills on the inaugural day of the three-day CISCE Regional UP and UK Swimming Championship taking place at St Joseph’s College in Prayagraj on Friday. The CISCE Regional Aquatic Championship, across three categories of U-14, U-17 and U-19 for both boys and girls, aims to foster the development of swimming skills and promote physical fitness among students from various schools under the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). Col (Dr) Arvind Jha, who has the distinction of representing the country at the 1982 Asian Games, was the chief guest while Divya Raj, former teacher, was the guest of honour.

Principal, Fr Walter D'Silva, Middle School Coordinator, Rev. Deacon Gladwin Fernandes, Additional Administrator, Aubrey Mc Gowan and the Senior Staff Coordinator, Mr. Jyoti Dube and Madhulika D'Souza welcomed the guest.

The team of mentors and coaches were led by Mohd Shabi Rafique, KC Biswas and Lt. Azhar Usmani. Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Allahabad Dr Raphy Manjaly, Diocesan Educational Officer of St Joseph College Prayagraj, Fr.

Lawrence Fernandes, and the Zonal Coordinator of ASISC graced the occasion.
