The Dallas native, 45, explained the series of events on the podcast How Rude, Tanneritos , which is hosted by Cameron Bure's Fuller House costars Jodie Sweetin, 42, and Andrea Barber, 48.

'It was a bummer for me - it really was,' Lakin said of missing out on the opportunity to appear on Fuller House, which ran for five seasons on Netflix from 2016–2020. Lakin, who played the role of Alicia 'Al' Lambert on the ABC series Step by Step from 1991–1998, was a part of a group of one-time child actors who formed a group called Child Celebrities Opposing Kirk Cameron in April of 2012. The group formed after the Growing Pains star called homosexuality 'unnatural' and said same-sex marriages are 'detrimental' in a CNN interview.
